Canonical is looking for first-level engineering managers to enhance its global open-source initiatives. As a leading tech firm, Canonical is dedicated to making open-source software easier and more accessible for a variety of users, ensuring reliability and security. Engineering managers at Canonical are also outstanding developers who play a crucial role in guiding their teams towards achieving exceptional results while contributing to the code base themselves. Key Responsibilities: - Lead and develop a team of engineers, from graduates to senior levels. - Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback. - Monitor team health indicators and implement disciplined engineering processes. - Represent your team and its products to stakeholders, partners, and customers. - Collaborate with teammates on planning and managing project goals. - Engage with other leadership teams across Canonical. Qualifications: - Strong academic background in Computer Science or related fields, or relevant professional experience. - Proven ability in leading, coaching, and mentoring developers. - Excellent organization and proactive delivery of high-quality results. - Advanced technical expertise in areas like Python, Golang, C/C++, data infrastructure, web technologies, etc. - Strong communication skills in English. Additional Skills: - Experience in developer advocacy roles or community relations. - Background in system administration, performance engineering, or security.
