Engineering Manager - Solutions Engineering

Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a regional software engineering team focused on enabling true model-driven operations via infrastructure-as-code. This role aims to enhance bare-metal operations in diverse environments such as high-performance computing, private clouds, data lakes, AI/ML, and analytics. The Engineering Manager will collaborate closely with the Solutions Engineering team, which works with managed infrastructure operations and creates open-source automation capabilities primarily in Python. Key Responsibilities: - Lead and develop a team of Python engineers in various global locations. - Engage in hiring, coaching, mentoring, providing feedback, and hands-on career development. - Contribute directly to coding and demonstrate solid engineering principles. - Plan and manage project goals and deadlines. - Set and manage expectations with other engineering and operations teams. - Coordinate with stakeholders, both internal and external. - Promote modern, agile software development practices and enhance organizational culture. - Participate actively in the leadership team and collaborate with peers. - Travel up to 10% globally for events related to work.
