NBS Rental/Retail Supervisor

Job Overview Ski Japan Travel Co Ltd is seeking an experienced, fun, energetic, and reliable team player to supervise all aspects of our rental/retail location in Hakuba. The ideal candidate will have a high level of skill and knowledge in skiing/snowboarding. Key Responsibilities - Provide impeccable customer service. - Set performance goals and deadlines in alignment with the company’s vision and communicate them effectively to staff. - Organize workflow and ensure all team members understand their duties. - Monitor employee productivity, offering constructive feedback and coaching. - Maintain budgets related to sales and wages. - Handle customer complaints professionally and resolve issues promptly. - Maintain accurate timekeeping and rosters. - Act as a liaison between senior management and employees. - Train new employees to deliver high service standards. - Perform daily opening and closing duties. - Accurately set up rental equipment (skis, boards) and fittings (boots, clothing, helmets). - Conduct general maintenance of rental inventory. - Handle retail sales and manage cash/credit transactions. - Participate in snow clearing and store presentation. - Respond to guest inquiries via phone, email, and in-house communication. - Promote additional services from SkiJapan.com and NBS. - Provide essential local information and assistance to guests. - Manage stock control and reorder supplies as needed. Preferred Experience/Training - Must have or obtain an International Driver’s License. - Demonstrated customer service experience (face-to-face). - Retail sales experience, ideally within the snow sports industry. - Experience in travel/tourism sectors. - Proficient in cash and credit card processing. - Familiarity with computerized rental systems (e.g., Easy Rent, In Touch). Personal Attributes Required - Energetic with a confident, can-do attitude. - Exceptional attention to detail. - Excellent guest experience skills and a passion for helping others. - Strong computer skills. - Mature and flexible approach, able to adapt to changing situations. - Punctual, reliable, and organized appearance. - Ability to work long hours and manage multiple tasks. - Capable of maintaining composure in a fast-paced environment. - Takes initiative and able to think on feet. Language Requirements - English is essential. - Bilingual in Japanese/Chinese/English is a preferred asset but not necessary. Visa Requirements - Must have or be eligible for a Working Holiday Visa or meet requirements for a Sponsored working visa. Ski/Snowboard Ability - Moderate skiing/snowboarding ability is required for hands-on knowledge of products and rentals. Remuneration Package - Subsidized lift passes and accommodation. - Hourly rates will be discussed during the interview. Employment Dates - Full Season: December 2025 to March 2026 Working Hours - Average of 35-40 hours per week during peak season; expect variable hours during the start and end of the season.
